August 2020 Newsletter

As August begins and gyms are still unable to hold classes inside, I am even more grateful that the idea for TBT87 came to fruition back in May.  I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see so many participants working out with such energy and joy despite the cautious world around us. We have added a 7th class to our schedule beginning August 10th and standardized the morning and evening time slots so all classes begin at 10:30 and 4:30.

TBT87 News:  Monday morning will become Chair Yoga with Renee beginning August 10 at 10:30am.  Since we began our virtual studio in May, there have been multiple requests for a second Chair Yoga class. The final Cardio Interval class will be August 3 at 10:30am.  FYI: an average of at least 6 paying participants is needed to keep a class on the schedule.

We will add Upper Cut with Mary Anne for the month of August on Mondays beginning August 10 at 4:30pm. Curious about Upper Cut?  It is a low impact, high intensity, upper body cardio kickboxing class.  No jumping or kicking - just arms and abs using easy-to-follow combos borrowed from martial arts.  All level participants are welcome.

Sharyn will continue to remind you to renew after you have used 7 out of your 10 classes.  Your renewal will allow you to receive Zoom invitations to all TBT87 classes.  Hope to see you at “the virtual studio that ALWAYS feels like home”.

Dance with the Dancers News:  Welcome to NYCB Soloist Brittany Pollack!  Britt will teach on Friday August 21 at 2pm.  Her class will include a variation inspired by Carousel. Andrew Scordato will return Friday August 28 at 2pm. $10 per person per class. Checks or PayPal accepted.  Pre-paid registration is required at least 3 days in advance to receive the Zoom invitations.

My Gym Fitness News:  Outdoor Boot Camp workouts (weather dependent) are on Tues/Thurs 6am and Saturday 7am with Mark. $10 per person. My Gym group fitness, Groupon, and Silver Sneakers members may attend the following classes at no extra cost:  Yoga with Ellen Tuesdays 9:45am and Stretch & Strengthen with Mark Wednesdays at 9am.  Walk-ins are welcome at $10 per class.

HVCC News:  We are in the process of planning a Fall session.  It will be a combination of live or virtual classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning September 14.  More details to follow soon.

National Museum of Dance News:  Mary Anne will resume The Ageless Dancer class on Zoom broadcast live from the museum galleries on Mondays at 2pm for two 6-week sessions. SESSION 1: August 17 - October 5 (no classes Sept. 7 or 23). $30 for 6 classes. SESSION 2: October 19 - November 30 (no class Nov. 23). $30 for 6 classes. A 10 class flexible card is also available for $60. (choose 10 of the 12 classes) Checks payable to:  National Museum of Dance, attn: Mary Anne Fantauzzi, 99 South Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. A PayPal option is being created this week.

July 2020 Newsletter

Here it is July 1st and sadly Phase 4, which would allow gyms to reopen, has been delayed.  It makes me even more grateful that the idea for TBT87 came to fruition back in May.  I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see so many participants working out with such energy and joy despite the cautious world around us. We have added a 6th class to our schedule and standardized the morning time slots so all 3 classes begin at 10:30 beginning July 2nd. Monthly News

April 2020 Newsletter

It seems ironic that last month we turned the clocks ahead. Here we are facing the uncertainty of the future wishing we could “spring ahead” to a time when this pandemic successfully ends and we are once again safe and “free” on so many different levels.

MY GYM news:  Ever since gyms across the country were told to close their doors, we have been posting one or two workouts day on the Total Body Trifecta Facebook page:  Mare at Trifecta. These free workouts are safe, offer a variety of modifications, use little to no equipment, and, most importantly, match our My Gym class schedule offerings from HIIT to Core de Ballet to Yoga.  I personally research, try out and post videos I think our clients will enjoy. Pilates/yoga master teachers Sharyn and Ellen suggest videos in those genres. You can access them anytime by clicking on the picture or link posted.  LIKE us on Facebook!

In addition, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we will offer LIVE classes using ZOOM.  Join Renee Monday mornings at 9:15 for Cardio Intervals, me on Tuesdays at 4:30 for Cardio + Sculpt and Wednesdays at 4:30 for Upper Cut + HIIT. To be eligible, you must first download the Zoom app and we must know your email address.  We will then send you an invitation to join the class with a password included in the invitation. This begins Monday, April 6th for the entire month.  We will be taking attendance at each class so be sure to log in and say hi!

Zumba instructor Jodie uses a different free format for her classes which are accessible for 36 hours at the end of each week on our Facebook page.  More group fitness instructors, including gym owner Mark Boudreau, may teach additional Zoom live classes TBA.

HVCC news:  After only four weeks, the rest of the Spring session has been cancelled. We are in the process of trying to create a series of online offerings for a full summer session of group fitness classes. Stay tuned for more details.

National Museum of Dance news:  Both Barre & Balance and Dancing Through Time sessions have been cancelled and the museum and its School of the Arts are closed indefinitely.  We anticipate both will return in Fall 2020.

Stay safe, stay healthy and stay motivated to stay fit.  We miss you!

Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour on March 8. Spring into Fitness...and I hope to see you soon at one of our three locations!

February 2020 Newsletter

It's hard to believe that this month marks seven and one-half years at My Gym Fitness Center. It is a turning point for us as I look back at  seven and one-half years at 87 Church Street, and seven and one-half years at 61 Lawrence Street! 3 locations that put the "TRI" in Trifecta I guess. As this new era begins it is time for some updates. One month from today, March 5th (which many of you know has major significance in our journey), we will launch a brand new website, Facebook page and social media presence.  Thanks to Brainworks Studio which, ironically, is located directly across the street from our first two studio locations, TBT will venture into the 21st century. I cannot wait to unveil it to all of you!

Thank you to Simone Noud and A J Ferris for teaching Sculpt and Cardio Caliente in February! It was great to have them make a cameo. Donna will return to teach the Tuesday lineup of Just Cardio and Sculpt on February 19.

The Wednesday night Upper Cut and Step instructors for February are: Renee February 5, 19 and Mare February 12, 26.

Thursday nights will once again offer Mind/Body classes that include a yoga component, focus on core stabilization and balance, offer non-impact movements that are easy-to-follow and create a restorative ambiance at the end of a long week. Both classes (see below) require a yoga mat. Attire should be comfortable and allow movement and warmth for the final segments. Bare feet are optional.

We are happy to welcome Sharyn Kalinkewicz to our staff two Thursdays a month to teach Pilates/Yoga. This one hour class from 4:25-5:25 will spend 45 minutes focusing on the traditional non-cardio Pilates exercises that are intended to increase flexibility and core strength while lengthening, defining and sculpting muscles. This portion will include modifications for those new to Pilates as well as more challenging alternatives for those with experience. The final 15 minutes will incorporate traditional, thematic yoga postures that include hip opening, back extension and standing balance. Absolute beginners and walk-ins are welcome! (February 20, 27)

After a LONG absence, Mary Anne will bring back Sole Synthesis two Thursdays a month. This one hour class from 4:25-5:25 will spend 50 minutes improving balance, core stabilization and fluidity from the bottom up. Exercises for the feet and ankles to improve your base of support are followed by easy-to-follow segments of fitness, ballet and yoga that are done standing. The music is an eclectic rhythmic mix. The final 10 minutes will include standing and seated stretches to enhance flexibility. All are welcome! (February 6, 13))

Don't miss "Night At The Museum: LIVE!" Thursday February 13. Movers of all ages and fitness/dance levels are invited to replicate the pose on one of the posters in the "Art of the Dance: Posters from Hollywood's Golden Age" exhibit then make it come alive through their own creative series of movements. (30-60 seconds) The 6:00-6:40 creation portion is free to all participants. At 6:45, the National Museum of Dance's doors will open and paying visitors will stroll through the exhibit to experience your poster come alive before their eyes.  See Mary Anne for more information.

I hope to see you at "Night at the Museum: Live!" and at the gym,

Mary Anne
